Raoul De Keyser is without doubt one of the most important European painters of the past decades. He was born in Deinze, Belgium, in 1930. Although his work has been internationally acclaimed since the 1980's, there has not yet been a comprehensive exhibition in Germany that has focused on the development of his oeuvre. The exhibition in Kunstmuseum Bonn will try to correct this. The works on display will cover forty years of the artist's work. Raoul De Keyser does not just cultivate a specific style of painting. Instead, he explores the entire field of painting and all its means of expression. The exhibition will comprise about 70 works, thus bringing together loans from Europe and America, and from museums and private owners. This show will be proof of the power of a genre that was once the leading medium of Modernism.
From 20 August to 18 October in Kunstmuseum Bonn, Friedrich-Ebert-Allee 2, 53113 Bonn. Open Tue-Sun from 11am to 6pm (on wed to 9pm).
