For her first solo exhibition in Belgium, German artist Kirsten Pieroth presents a series of sculptures and installations which look at the Italian inventor Guglielmo Marconi's first telegraphic experiments. The new work, commissioned by Objectif, delves into the first DIY domestic trials at creating a method for global communication.
Kirsten Pieroth's practice, like many of the subjects of her research, revolves around accidents, imagination and mis/communication. Intrigued by early scientific experiments and the idiosyncrasies of perception, Pieroth's simple gestures pervert mundane objects and events, entangling them in a web of new references and systems of association.
Pieroth lives and works in Berlin.
