Raoul De Keyser (born in 1930 in Deinze, Belgium) is an artist who has created through a long career as a painter a highly esteemed oeuvre that is quite independent of the dominant movements and approaches of the times even though this work has always maintained strains of communication with the most significant after-war achievements in painting, namely in the field of abstraction. After presenting a comprehensive show of Raoul De Keyser's paintings in 2005, Serralves now exhibits a set of approximately 65 watercolours from recent years. These reduced and highly sensitive works are virtually unknown even to people who are knowledgeable about De Keyser's work. These have never been exhibited before.
From 14 March to 3 May in Museu Serralves, Rua D. João de Castro 210, 4150-417 Porto, Portugal. Open Tues-Fri from 10am to 5pm and Sat-Sun from 10am to 7pm.
